How an early-stage mental well-being startup built a private, emotionally supportive platform for people navigating grief in 20 weeks
Mental health & wellness · Early-stage startup · mobile-first · private journaling, daily emotional check-ins, and optional community support

01
The problem
“We wanted to create a space where people could process grief without feeling overwhelmed, exposed, or like they were using another social network.”
Griefly set out to build a digital experience that felt safe, supportive, and approachable for people coping with loss.
The challenge wasn't building another journaling app. It was designing an experience that encouraged consistent, low-effort engagement while protecting privacy and letting users decide how much to share.
02
What it was costing
Without a dedicated platform, the founders couldn't deliver the private, structured experience they envisioned. They needed an MVP that balanced emotional sensitivity with security, encouraged daily engagement without friction, and earned users' trust from day one.
03
What we built
A mobile-first mental well-being platform where users complete daily emotional check-ins, keep a personal journal, discover helpful micro-resources, and join an optional peer community if they choose.
It supports anonymous onboarding with optional account creation, so people can engage in whatever way feels comfortable while their personal information and journal entries stay secure.
Delivered as a 20-week MVP, working closely with the founders to refine the emotional experience, build the mobile app, and ship a secure, privacy-first product ready for early users and future features.
